Adjective clauses with object relative pronouns who, whom, and that

In some adjective clauses, the relative pronoun is the subject of the clause.

In other adjective clauses, the relative pronoun is the object of the clause.

جملات وصفی با ضمایر موصولی who، whom و that.

در برخی از جملات وصفی، ضمیر موصولی فاعل نیم جمله (clause) است.

در دیگر جملات وصفی، ضمیر موصولی مفعول نیم جمله (clause) است.

who as subject = (The people are the guests.)

The people who are the guests should bring gifts.

who as object = (You invite the people.)

The people who you invite should bring gifts.

در اینجا who به عنوان فاعل = افراد مهمانان هستند.

افرادی که مهمان هستند باید هدیه بیاورند.

در اینجا who به عنوان مفعول = (شما افراد را دعوت کنید.)

افرادی که دعوت کردی باید هدیه بیاورند.

When a relative pronoun is an object of a clause, use who, that, or whom for people and that for things.

The relative pronoun is often omitted, especially in speaking. (Note: whom is very formal.)

وقتی ضمیر موصولی مفعول یک نیم جمله (clause) است، از who، that، یا whom برای افراد از that برای چیز ها استفاده کنید.

ضمیر موصولی اغلب نادیده گرفته میشود، مخصوصا در صحبت کردن. (توجه: whom بسیار رسمی است.)

The people who (or that / whom) you invite should bring gifts. / The people you invite should bring gifts.

The gifts that you bring should be inexpensive. / The gifts you bring should be inexpensive.

افرادی که (یا که / کسی که) شما دعوت میکنید باید هدیه بیاورند. / افرادی که دعوت میکنید باید هدیه بگیرند.

هدایایی که شما می آورید باید گران قیمت نباشد. / هدایایی که آوردید نباید گرون قیمت باشند.

Be careful!

When the relative pronoun is the subject of the clause, it can NOT be omitted.

Don’t say: The people are the guests should bring gifts.

Do not use an object pronoun after the verb.

Don’t say: The people who you invite them should bring gifts.



مراقب باشید!

وقتی ضمیر موصولی فاعل نیم جمله (clause) است، نمیتواند نادیده گرفته شود.

نگید: افراد مهمانان باید هدیه بگیرند.

از ضمایر مفعولی بعد از فعل استفاده نکنید.

نگید: افرادی که دعوت می کنید باید هدیه ای را بیاورند.
