Noun clauses: Embedded questions

A question can be embedded in a noun clause.

Use if to begin an embedded yes / no question.

یک سوال می تواند در یک اسم عبارتی تعبیه شود.

از If برای شروع سوال های تعبیه شده yes و no استفاده کنید.

Embedded yes / no questionse

Tell me if that magazine is interesting.

I’d like to know if he liked the article.

Could you tell me if you've finished that newspaper?

اگر مجله جالبی هستش دربارش بهم بگو.

دوست دارم بدونم که آیا او از اون مقاله خوشش اومده.

میتونی بهم بگی که آیا اون روزنامه رو تموم کردی؟

Use a question word to begin embedded information questions.

Embedded information questions

I can't remember what the article’s about.

I don’t understand why you've decided to read it.

I wonder who the writer is.

I’m not sure whose magazine it is.

I don’t know when it was written.

Do you know where the writer is from?

نمیتونم به یاد بیارم مقاله درباره چی بود.

من نمی فهمم چرا تصمیم گرفتید آن را بخوانید.

برام جالبه بدونم نویسنده کیست.

من مطمئن نیستم که این مجله چه کسی است.

من نمیدانم چه زمانی نوشته شده است.

شما میدانید نویسنده اهل کجاست؟

Punctuation

If an embedded question is within a statement, use a period.

with a question, use a question mark.

نقطه گذاری

اگر سوال در یک جمله جاسازی شده باشد، از نقطه استفاده کنید.

با یک سوال، از علامت سوال استفاده کنید.

Be careful!

Use normal word order (not question word order) in embedded questions.

Don't say: I wonder who is the writer. Do you know where is the writer from?

مراقب باشید!

از ترتیب معمولی کلمات استفاده کنید (نه ترتیب سوالی کلمات) در سوالات تعبیه شده.

نگید: برام جالبه نویسنده اهل کجاست. میدونید نویسنده اهل کجاست؟
