Double comparatives

Use double comparatives to describe a cause-and-effect process.

تفضیلی دوبل

از تفضیلی دوبل برای تعریف یک روند علت و معلول استفاده میشود.

The more education women get, the later they marry. [Women are getting more education, so they’re marrying later.]

The less children studied, the more slowly they learned. [Children studied less, so they learned more slowly.]

The older one gets, the harder it can be to find a husband or wife.

هر چه بیشتر خانم ها تحصیل میکنند، دیر تر ازدواج میکنند. (خانم ها دارند بیشتر تحصیل میکنند، بنابراین دیرتر ازدواج میکنند.(

هرچه کودکان کمتر مطالعه می کردند، کند تر یاد می گرفتند. (بچه ها کمتر مطالعه می کردند، بنابراین کند تر یاد میگرفتند.(

هرچه کسی پیر تر میشود، میتواند پیدا کردن زن یا شوهر سخت تر شود.

Note: When be is used in double comparatives, it is sometimes omitted.

The better the quality of health care (is), the higher the life expectancy (is).

توجه: وقتی be در تفضیلی دوبل استفاده میشود، معمولا حذف میشود.

هرچه کیفیت مراقبت های سلامت بیشتر باشد، امید به زندگی بیشتر میشود.

Be careful!

Don't use the present or past continuous in either clause of a double comparative statement.

Use the simple present or the simple past tense instead.

از حال یا گذشته مستر در هر دو شرطی یک بیانیه تفضیلی دوبل استفاده نکنید.

به جاش از حال ساده یا گذشته ساده استفاده کنید.

The longer couples wait to have children, the fewer children they have.

NOT The longer couples are waiting to have children, the fewer they're having.
